about 47.5
47.5
is a new project from Yusuke Yamamoto and Yoshio Kobayashi, two Japanese musicians who have long resided in Brooklyn, and who have long and storied careers there, as in Japan.  The name of this duo refers to the running tape speed of a cassette, and reflects on their love of new and old technology. Much of this recording is done in real time, using old triggering systems, analogue synths, dubbed out with tape echo, spring reverb, recorded directly to cassette. They very effectively perform this material live, which is an amazing and inspirational experience as they effortlessly improvise this multi-layered music, with two musicians sounding like a quartet, or quintet.
